Prepping and Planning - August 12, 2019

Got the logistics of the tire replacement worked out today. ICON is sending a new tire overnight and I made arrangements [thanks to the FBO, Atlantic Aviation] to have a mechanic available tomorrow to do the install. ICON sent the necessary documentation for the process directly to the mechanic and I'm tracking the shipment - it left Sacramento this evening and is scheduled to arrive before noon tomorrow.
As long as I was at the airport, I spent some time wiping down the plane and getting the bugs off the leading edges. Once I'm back home I'll do a thorough detailing, but for now it's just basic upkeep.
Last thing was to make sure all the gear is charged up, SD cards are formatted and everything's ready to go for tomorrow. My goal is to get to Vacaville, but that will depend on how soon I'm able to get going after the wheel fix is done. I'll have a day or two in Vacaville and expecting to fly the final leg back to Torrance on Friday. Getting really close now!
😀👍🏼

This was another pretty mellow day. I ended up doing more cleaning on the plane than I'd originally intended, but I had the time so figured it was a good opportunity. I could've done more exploring around Eugene, but I enjoyed having a day to pay down my sleep deprivation debt and think back on the journey; everything I'd seen and experienced. It wasn't quite over yet, but I was definitely down to the final stretch.
If I'm being completely honest with myself, I was ready to get home. I enjoy traveling, and doing something unique like this was never boring, but living in hotel rooms and eating restaurant food every day takes its toll after two months. Plus, I hadn't seen my wife in almost six weeks! It was time to wrap this all up.
I'd also gained about 5 pounds since I left. I tried to exercise when I could, but getting into any kind of regular routine was tough.
I may still consider doing some smaller trips that focus on a particular region or smaller area, but something like this was once in a lifetime.
Oh, I didn't have any photos or video from this day, so here's some landing gear porn for anyone that's into that sort of thing. 😀
