Well, slight change of plans. Had a minor technical issue this morning that delayed me getting going. So, I had to make a choice - skip the lake and fly home or spend the day on the lake and head home tomorrow. I decided not to end this trip making the less-than-fun choice so I headed out to Lake Berryessa.
The first landing I ever did in the A5 was on this lake in 2016. The water level was 40 feet lower then, but today it's up near maximum and conditions were fantastic.
Landing on the water never, ever gets old and I took full advantage of it. While I was sitting on the lake I was also able to book myself back into the hotel for the night.😁 Tomorrow I WILL be heading for home - and this time I mean it!
😀👍🏼
This was a perfect way to wrap up my last water ops of the trip. The decision to stay an extra day wasn't difficult. I really didn't want to miss getting some time on Lake Berryessa. I'd had to pass on so
many other opportunities over the course of the previous nine weeks. This one I couldn't miss, especially since the weather was so amazing. What was one day at that point, right?
I hadn't been expecting to stay another day, though, so I'd packed everything up and checked out of my hotel that morning. Over the past couple days I'd gotten to know a really nice couple that were staying at the hotel. We kept bumping into each other at the hotel bar each night and I'd said my goodbyes to them the night before. They were surprised to see me show up again that night, so I figured it warranted a picture with them and Orly, the bartender at the hotel.
I also went back to Tahoe Joe's and grabbed a shot of my travel companions. These two little monkeys were a gift from Julie when I left and I'd carried them in my pocket through the whole trip. I took pics of them at various places along the way and would often set them on the bar in front of me wherever I was. People were sometimes confused, but it was a great conversation starter.
