Stayed local today with a short flight from Caldwell, NJ to Westchester, NY to meet with Chris from ICON.

The area between Caldwell and Westchester is some very busy airspace. Definitely had to be sharp on the radio calls with fast-talking controllers that were handling a crazy number of aircraft. Still, it was a good challenge and learning experience.

Chris and I met at the Million Air FBO. Holy Moly, this is a first-class setup. Huge rooms with multiple fire places, high ceilings, lot’s of wood and art accents and a great staff of people.

It was fun having two A5s sitting there on the ramp. We were hoping to take them both out along the river, but Chris’ A5 was due for a 100 hour inspection, so we didn’t get the chance.

On the flight back I had a great view down the Hudson River to Manhattan.

Tomorrow I’m doing a few local flights with my relatives and celebrating the holiday.

One thing that stood out about this particular day was using my plane for commuting, almost the way you'd use a car.

Sure, I'd had other Point A to Point B days (like the one just before this) but that was leaving one place and flying to another. And I've given people rides, but that's usually taking off and landing back at the same airport.

Back in LA I'd flown from Torrance down to Orange County a few times for business meetings and I liked the feeling of hopping in the plane, starting up and flying away. And when you consider the traffic it can sometimes be a lot quicker than driving.

There were some other days during this trip that were 'commuter' days - more on that when we get there.
