Today was family fly-with-Tony day.
I got to take two of my cousins, a cousin-in-law and an uncle for rides in the A5. Took them each on a short flight around Essex/Caldwell with the Manhattan skyline in the background. It was great getting to see each of their reactions! By the third flight the Caldwell controller knew the route I was flying and was basically asking me "same thing again?". I can't think of a better way to celebrate this day than by taking advantage of the most open airspace system in the world to joyride over the landscape with family.
Also, I have flown every day for the past 20 days. That's a personal record for me and I'm hoping to keep it going.
After the flights we grabbed lunch at Rutt's Hut in Clifton, NJ. My grandfather loved hot dogs, and this was his favorite place for them. They deep-fry the dogs so the casing splits. Don't knock it till you've tried it. I ended up having three in Gramp's honor.
For tomorrow, there are a couple presidential TFRs around Morristown and Bedminster. I'm hoping the weather is clear enough in the morning for me to get out and on my way to Massachusetts before those kick in around 10:30. Looks like there might be some fog or low-level clouds that'll burn off around 10am, so it might be tight.
😀👍🏼
Happy Fourth of July!!
No extra pics or video on this day, so everything I had went into the IG post - another case of wanting to be
in the moment, not focused on documenting it.
I did find one pic from a family dinner a few nights earlier that was a lot of fun.
I don't get to see my family in NJ very often, so having these few days to catch up, even briefly, was really special.
